India, Jan. 23 -- The semi high-speed Vande Bharat Sleeper train commenced its commercial operations on January 22, 2026, with its maiden run from Kamakhya railway station to Howrah.
Passengers on the inaugural journey welcomed the launch of the premium service, expressing satisfaction with the travel experience. At Kamakhya station, railway personnel greeted passengers on board with roses to mark the occasion.
Railway officials said all seats on the inaugural service were booked within a few hours of the opening of ticket reservations through the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and other platforms, indicating strong public response. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on January 17, 2026.
