India, Feb. 5 -- A routine traffic duty turned fatal on Wednesday evening after a speeding vehicle rammed into on-duty police personnel and civilians at Chamdang (Samdang T.E.) Bypass Chariali under the Doomdooma Police Station limits in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district, leaving Traffic Sub-Inspector Bubul Sonowal dead and at least 15 others injured, including two police personnel.
"Today, a road accident occurred at Chamdang Bypass Chariali, injuring five policemen and several others. I visited the injured at Doomdooma Civil Hospital and Rupai DC Bora Hospital to assess their condition and understand the situation," the Doomdooma legislator wrote on X on Wednesday evening.
