INDIA, Dec. 2 -- The Finance Officer of Assam's Tezpur University, Braja Bandhu Mishra, formally stepped down from his post on Monday, December 1, citing the ongoing agitation at the university and the corruption allegations raised during the protest.

Mishra had not been present on campus since September 22, the second day of the agitation. In a written statement, he announced that he is ending all association with the university with immediate effect and referred to the "current atmosphere of unrest" along with allegations of financial irregularities linked to his tenure.
