India, Dec. 24 -- Locals in Assam's Sribhumi detained a suspected Bangladeshi national late on Tuesday night after he was spotted behaving suspiciously, officials said.
The incident occurred on Gach Kalibori Road, where residents noticed an unidentified man roaming the area. Acting on suspicion, they questioned and restrained him before alerting the police.
The man identified himself as Kamrul Islam, claiming to hail from Barishal, Bangladesh. During a search, locals recovered Bangladeshi currency from his possession, heightening security concerns.
