India, Jan. 6 -- The Morigaon district administration in Assam on Monday ordered the closure of all schools in the district on January 6 in view of the prevailing severe cold wave, officials said.

The order, issued by District Inspector of Schools Apurba Thakuria with the approval of the District Commissioner, came into effect immediately.

The directive applies to all government, provincialised and private educational institutions, including Lower Primary, Upper Primary, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools across the district.

Officials clarified that the closure will not affect examinations already scheduled. The Class X pre-board examinations slated for January 6 will be held as planned at the designated centres.
