India, Dec. 27 -- A man was killed in a hit-and-run in Gadain Raji, under the jurisdiction of Mahur Police Station in Assam's Dima Hasao district.
The incident occurred on Friday, triggering tension among local residents.
The victim, identified as Seiminhao Lhangum, a resident of Numjang village, was struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene. He died instantly from his injuries.
The incident sparked outrage, with locals gathering at the site and blocking National Highway-27 (NH-27), disrupting traffic for several hours. Protesters reportedly set tyres on fire, causing long traffic jams and leaving vehicles stranded.
