India, Dec. 20 -- A full-grown leopard that had been terrorizing residents near the Brahmaputra Cracker Polymer Ltd (BCPL) complex at Lepetkata in Assam's Dibrugarh was successfully captured by the Forest Department on Saturday morning.

The leopard had been prowling the industrial site for several days, causing concern among residents. Forest officials set a trap, placing an iron cage baited with live prey in the area.

The operation culminated on Saturday when the leopard entered the cage and was secured.

Authorities confirmed the animal was captured without injury.

A forest department official stated that the captured leopard will first undergo a thorough veterinary health examination.
