India, Jan. 22 -- The Assam Congress on Thursday intensified its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the ongoing Special Revision (SR) of electoral rolls, alleging a "systematic attempt" to delete voters' names through the e-KYC process.

Addressing a press conference at Ghoramara, Assam Mahila Congress president Mira Borthakur claimed that nearly 6,000 voters in the Dispur Assembly constituency were being targeted for deletion under the pretext of electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification.

"The Election Commission and the BJP are trying to remove names in the name of e-KYC verification. In Dispur constituency, very tactically, around 6,000 people's names are being targeted," Ms. Borthakur said.
