India, Jan. 16 -- A 20-year-old woman, identified as Janaki Thapa, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of a hotel room in Assam's Tinsukia town on Thursday.

Police confirmed the recovery of the body and said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the death.

According to police, the incident came to light after hotel staff failed to receive any response from the room despite repeated knocks.

A male guest booked the room earlier in the day, raising questions about the sequence of events that led to the tragic discovery.
