India, Jan. 29 -- The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles, under the Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), facilitated the surrender of an NSCN-R insurgent in Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh, on Wednesday.

According to Assam Rifles officials, "Based on credible intelligence from 3CIB regarding an active insurgent in the Khonsa area, the Khonsa Battalion, in close coordination with Arunachal Pradesh Police, launched an operation. Ground sources were activated, and through sustained counselling and motivation, the insurgent agreed to surrender. He was subsequently handed over to Police Station Khonsa for further proceedings."
