India, Jan. 5 -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck central Assam and other parts of the Northeast on Monday morning, the National Centre for Seismology reported.

Authorities confirmed that there are no immediate reports of injuries or damage to property.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) stated that the quake occurred at 4:17 am in Morigaon district on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River, at a depth of 50 km.

The epicentre was recorded at 26.37 N latitude and 92.29 E longitude in central Assam.
