New York, Sept. 11 -- The Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) officially declared a new outbreak of Ebola in its remote Kasai province on September 4.

Kasai is located in the Mweka territory of south-central DRC, and is difficult to access, with poor road conditions, no cargo airport, and limited electricity-factors that are severely complicating the response.

In coordination with the Congolese Ministry of Health and alongside the World Health Organization (WHO), Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) rapidly mobilized teams and joined a multi-agency emergency mission to the area to assess the situation and support immediate response efforts.
