INDIA, Aug. 22 -- A recent study by TRAI shows that average data consumption by Indians is 8GB per month which is double of what an average American consumes. India also tops the chart of wireless data consumption per subscriber per month.

Cheaper internet has resulted in a 75% rise in data consumption in the country. For a comparison average mobile Internet consumption in 2014 was 0.27GB per month, 0.41GB in 2015, and 1.14GB in 2016. Cost of per GB mobile Internet has gone down by 96% over the last 5 years.

TRAI predicts a 200% rise in mobile data consumption in the next two years.
