NEW DELHI, Oct. 23 -- Congress President Sonia Gandhi arrived in Tihar Jail on Wednesday to meet former Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar arrested on charges of money laundering. According to Congress sources, Sonia reached Tihar at around 9 am.

Sonia reached jail to express solidarity A source said that Sonia went to jail to know the well being of senior Congress leader Shivkumar of Karnataka as well as to show solidarity towards him.

Significantly, Shivkumar, arrested on charges of money laundering, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate a few weeks ago and he is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.

Prior to Sonia, former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy also reached Tihar Jail to meet Shivkumar.
