NEW DELHI, Feb. 25 -- Elections will be held on March 26 for the 55 seats of the Rajya Sabha falling vacant in April. The Election Commission announced this on Tuesday.

The Commission said that these seats of 17 states in the Rajya Sabha are vacant on different dates in April due to the completion of the tenure of the members.

The notification of Rajya Sabha election will be issued on 6 March. March 13 is the last date for filing nominations. The counting of votes will be done on the evening of 26 March, about an hour after the election ends.
