PALAMU, Nov. 16 -- Today was the last day of withdrawal of the name of the first phase of assembly elections. Nine Independent candidates from Palamu district withdrew their names on the last day. In this way, now 80 candidates are left in the elections in all five seats of Palamu district.
Ajay Gupta, Surya Sonal Singh, Zulfikar Ansari and Prafulla Kumar (all independents) withdrew from the Hussainabad assembly seat in the district. Thus, 19 candidates are now in the fray for this seat. On the other hand, four independent candidates Amrit Shukla, Geeta Mehta, Roshan Singh and Sunil Pandey have also withdrawn their names from the Vishrampur constituency. There are now 19 candidates left for this seat.
