NEW DELHI, Nov. 7 -- The Supreme Court has upheld the death penalty in the 2010 rape and murder case involving a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore. The revision plea of convict Manoharan, who had been sentenced to death, dismissed the review petition, requesting a review of his order to uphold the death penalty.

The Supreme Court, while giving the verdict by a majority of two, said that there is no basis for reviewing the decision which upheld the death penalty.
