New Delhi, April 2 -- Sjogren's Syndrome is an autoimmune disorder that primarily affects the moisture-producing glands, leading to symptoms of dry eyes and dry mouth. The exact cause is unknown but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic, environmental and hormonal factors triggering the immune system to attack the body's moisture-producing glands. According to her, management of Sjogren's Syndrome aims at relieving symptoms and preventing complications. She revealed, "For dry eyes, artificial tears, prescription eye drops or punctal plugs may be recommended.
