India, May 22 -- Former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar has approached the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking anticipatory bail claiming that his arrest by CBI in the chit fund scam cases appears imminent and that he has no legal remedy as lawyers in West Bengal are on strike.

This comes after the top court turned down Kumar's plea seeking setting up of a special bench to hear an extension of his interim protection from arrest in the Saradha scam. The former top cop was recently removed from the post of Additional Director General - Criminal Investigation Department (CID) West Bengal by the Election Commission.
