New Delhi, Dec. 3 -- In the wake of the Hyderabad rape-murder case, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed all the police stations that there should be no delay in filing complaints of crimes against women.

Sources at the State Secretariat said that the senior officers have also been directed to penalise police personnel who refuse to lodge a complaint in such cases. The state CM, during a closed-door meeting with senior police officers, also advised them to "increase contact with lower-ranked personnel so that information reaches them faster".

She has asked the police officials to keep a strict eye on social media accounts and posts to avoid circulation of fake news and half-truths.
