New Delhi, Jan. 22 -- The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) informed the Supreme Court of India that vehicular emissions are the single largest contributor to air pollution in Delhi-NCR. The Commission also placed before the court a set of 15 long-term measures aimed at improving the deteriorating Air Quality Index (AQI) in the region.
Appearing for the Commission, Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati told the bench that an analysis of studies conducted between 2015 and 2025 shows that high PM2.5 levels in Delhi result from a combination of primary emissions within the National Capital Region-such as dust and carbon monoxide-and secondary particulate formation.
