New Delhi, April 16 -- After keeping a strict eye in the wake of the Lok Sabha polls, the Uttar Pradesh police, from Bulandshahr area have recovered and seized a number of illegal firearms and live cartridges.

"405 illegal weapons, 739 live cartridges, liquor worth Rs 2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore cash have been seized. We will conduct more checkings like this," said N Kolanchi, Senior Superintendent of Police.

People found with illegal firearms will be put behind the bars and will be registered in cases against them, he added.

Bulandshahr will undergo polls on April 18 for which the counting of votes will be held on May 23.
