New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- Despite losing its territorial stronghold in Iraq and Syria. ISIL/Da'esh (Islamic State) continues to pose a significant security threat. The Islamic State is now expanding its footprint in Africa and using African territory as "strategic base for external relations" This was stated in a recent report submitted to the United Nations Security Council. The report identified Africa as the epicentre of ISIL activity and using its affiliates, namely theIslamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) expanding their reach and propaganda output. The report mentioned that the ISIL/Da'esh pivot together Africa has increased because of its territorial losses in Middle East.
