New Delhi, Sept. 6 -- The visit of Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to India from August 24 to August 26 2025- his first ever Indian visit since assuming the office in 2022- has further bolstered the ties between India and Fiji. On August 25, Rabuka met PM Modi at Hyderabad House. In the Indian strategic calculus, Fiji is significant on account of the following reasons. First, India perceives Fiji as a kind of a regional hub in the Pacific and a provider of important air and shipping links to other regional countries. This was also recognised by PM Modi in his remarks that in its cooperation with the Pacific Islands nations, India sees Fiji as a hub.
