New Delhi, Dec. 30 -- Supreme Court has suspended the release order of Kuldeep Singh Sengar that was granted by the Delhi High Court relating to the Unnao rape case.

The Unnao rape case refers to the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl on 4 June 2017 in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, India. On 16 December 2019, former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted of the rape and on 20 December 2019 he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Further in March 2020, Sengar was found "guilty of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy in her father's death". On 23 December 2025, theDelhi High Courtsuspended the life sentence and granted bail to Sengar pending appeal.
