New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched Phase-II of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across nine States and three Union Territories, in accordance with its powers under Article 324 of the Constitution, Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
Following the successful completion of SIR in Bihar, this next phase will cover nearly 51 crore electors across Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, as well as the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
