New Delhi, Oct. 17 -- The Northern Railway has temporarily stopped the sale of platform tickets at five major stations in the Delhi region - New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar, and Ghaziabad - to prevent overcrowding amid the surge in passenger movement.

According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Northern Railway, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure smooth operations and passenger safety during the festive rush.

He clarified that persons accompanying senior citizens, Divyangjans (persons with disabilities), illiterate passengers, and women will continue to be allowed access as per standard protocols.
