New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of Myanmar, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin.

Modi underlined that India values its relations with Myanmar as part of the Neighbourhood First, Act East, and Indo-Pacific policies. Both leaders reviewed bilateral ties and discussed the way forward on cooperation in development partnership, defence and security, border management, and border trade. Modi highlighted that progress on ongoing connectivity projects would strengthen people-to-people interaction and advance regional cooperation and integration under the Act East policy.
