New Delhi, July 15 -- The President of India, in exercise of powers conferred by the Constitution and in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has approved a series of appointments and transfers of Chief Justices across various High Courts in the country.

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as its Chief Justice. Justice Vibhu Bakhru of the Delhi High Court has been elevated as Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, will now take over as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
