New Delhi, Nov. 15 -- More than five lakhs prepaid power metres have been ordered by the Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh to be installed in all government offices, official residences of ministers and politicians, in order to put a check on non-payment of electricity dues.

The government departments will also be given the option to make their payments in instalments. "We have also opened dedicated police stations to check power theft in more than 60 districts," said Uttar Pradesh Power Minister Srikant Sharma.
