New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Leaders' Summit in Tianjin on 31 August 2025.
Both leaders welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations since their last meeting in Kazan in October 2024. They reaffirmed that India and China were development partners, not rivals, and that differences should not become disputes. They underlined that cooperation between the two countries and their 2.8 billion people, based on mutual respect and sensitivity, was essential for their development and for a multipolar Asia and world in the 21st century.
