New Delhi, May 3 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala to the nation, calling it a symbol of new-age development and a strategic asset for India's maritime growth. Developed at a cost of Rs.8,800 crore, Vizhinjam is India's first dedicated container transshipment port, expected to handle the world's largest cargo ships and significantly reduce the country's dependence on foreign ports.
