New Delhi, Jan. 17 -- In the wake of the mercy plea rejected by President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, that was recently filed by one of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, after the Patiala House court in the National Capital issued death warrants of the four convicts scheduling their execution on January 22, the hanging of the convicts has been postponed to February 1.

The four convicts will now be hanged on February 1 at 6 am, at the same time in Delhi's Tihar jail.

The move comes as according to the rules, after the plea is rejected by the President of India, a convict has to be given 14 days' notice before execution.
