New Delhi, July 6 -- Seeing the largest-single day spike in the novel Coronavirus cases in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram, the state government of the southern state of Kerala, on Sunday, July 5, decided to impose triple lockdown in the capital city that came into effect from 6 am on Monday, July 6.

Considering the seriousness of the situation, one-week strict lockdown has been imposed in the Corporation area (City limits) of Thiruvananthapuram with all major roads been sealed and public transport stopped. While government secretariat and administrative headquarters have been completely shut, the Chief Minister of the state will work from his official residence, Cliff house.

Only essential services will be allowed in the city.
