New Delhi, April 24 -- The Ministry of Law and Justice has announced a key judicial appointment in the Calcutta High Court.
According to an official communique issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India and after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has appointed Justice Subhendu Samanta, currently serving as an Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court.
The Calcutta High Court is the oldest High Court in India. It is located at Esplanade Row West, Kolkata, West Bengal. It has jurisdiction over the state of West Bengal and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
