New Delhi, Jan. 9 -- The President of India has appointed Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, currently a Judge of the Allahabad High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court. The appointment was made in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India after consultation with the Chief Justice of India.

Justice Gupta will assume charge as Chief Justice with effect from the date he takes office. The appointment follows the superannuation of the incumbent Chief Justice, Justice Guhanathan Narendar, who is scheduled to retire on January 9, 2026.

The decision was announced by the Ministry of Law and Justice in a press communique.
