New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- On January 15, 2025, Isreal and Hamas agreed on a ceasefire deal marking the pause of war between the two warring parties in Gaza for six months. Under the three-phased deal, Hamas would release dozens of hostages in exchange for Israel releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. The deal would also allow hundreds of thousands of people displaced in Gaza to return to what remains of their homes. As per the terms of the deal, the first phase will last for 42 days. On January 17, 2025, Israeli cabinet approved the ceasefire deal and confirmed that the first phase of the deal would enter into effect starting January 19, 2025.
