New Delhi, July 27 -- Netflix is developing a live-action Pokemon series. Sources reveal that the streaming channel is working on a TV show based on the immensely successful trading cards and video games.

About a month ago, a writers room overseen by showrunner Joe Henderson (Lucifer) began to fill up. Many episodes of the Pokemon anime series are currently available on Netflix, making a live-action adaptation a natural match for the platform.

If made into a series, it wouldn't be the first live-action adaptation of the brand, as Detective Pikachu was released in 2019. Ryan Reynolds starred in the film, which grossed $433 million worldwide.
