New Delhi, June 29 -- Tunisia witnesses a fresh wave of protests as protestors demanded that authorities release Tarek Haddad, Spokesman of El Kamour Movement. The demonstrators are protesting against high levels of unemployment in the Tataouine, region known for its oil and gas. The powerful Tunisian General Labour Union (Union Generale Tunisienne du Travail: UGTT) has denounced perceived excessive use of force against protesters, and continued arrests will likely prompt the UGTT to call for another general strike in the region. Risk of violent confrontation with forces is highly probable.
