New Delhi, July 18 -- India has welcomed the decision of the United States Department of State to designate The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). The move, led by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has been acknowledged by the Indian government as a significant affirmation of the growing Indo-U.S. counter-terrorism cooperation.
The TRF, identified as a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), has been responsible for several terrorist activities, most notably the April 22, 2025 attack on civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which the group publicly claimed twice.
