New Delhi, May 6 -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 6th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit hosted by Thailand. The 6th BIMSTEC Summit was held under the overarching theme: "BIMSTEC: Prosperous, Resilient and Open." Significantly, this was the first in person meeting of BIMSTEC leaders in 7 years.
BIMSTEC is a regional multilateral organisation comprising seven Member States around the Bay of Bengal region. BIMSTEC constitutes a unique link between South and South-East Asia with five Members from South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka) and two from South-East Asia (Myanmar and Thailand).
