New Delhi, Oct. 30 -- India and Nepal have taken a major step toward enhancing regional energy cooperation with the signing of Joint Venture and Shareholders' Agreements (JV&SHA) between POWERGRID, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) of India, and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
The agreements, signed in the presence of Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar and Nepal's Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Kul Man Ghising, pave the way for the creation of two joint venture entities-one each in India and Nepal-to develop high-capacity cross-border power transmission infrastructure.
