New Delhi, Oct. 17 -- Kamal Nath-led government in Madhya Pradesh has sought for a relief fund accounting to Rs. 6,621 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund, in the wake of the damages caused by the heavy rains and flood in the state this year.

A public relations department officer said the Central government's inter-ministerial team, led by the Union Home Ministry's joint secretary, S. K. Shahi held a meeting with the state government officials at the secretariat. He further stated that the Central team visited 15 districts of the state to take a review of the damage caused by the rains and floods.

With 43 per cent more than the annual average, Madhya Pradesh recorded 1,348.3mm rainfall between June 1 and September 30.
