New Delhi, May 27 -- Indian Air Force's only unit to have won the Param Vir Chakra, No. 18 Squadron 'Flying Bullets' will be equipped with the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Final Operational Clearance at Sulur airbase in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. The 'Flying Bullets' with Tejas fighters will be operationalised by Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria.

The move will make the unit the second IAF squadron to fly the home-made combat aircraft after the 45 Squadron Flying Daggers.

It is to be noted that IAF that already operates 20 Tejas jets in Initial Operation Clearance (IOC) in the 45 Squadron, its 18 Squadron will also have 20 jets in FOC version with 16 fighters and 4 trainers.
