New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- A five-time MLA and one-time Rajya Sabha MP, Shamsher Singh Surjewala, veteran Congress leader breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital in the National Capital after prolonged illness.

Shamsher Surjewala, 87, had also served as the former Chief of the Haryana Congress and a former minister. Also, having served as the president of the Haryana Krishak Samaj, veteran Congress leader had fought for the rights of farmers.

The cremation of Surjewala, father of party leader Randeep Surjewala, will take place at Narwana in Haryana in the afternoon.
