New Delhi, Dec. 2 -- External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar delivered remarks at the Conference on "50 Years of the Biological Weapons Convention: Strengthening Biosecurity for the Global South" held in New Delhi. The event was attended by experts and representatives from over 80 countries.

Dr. Jaishankar underlined the need to modernise the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) to respond to emerging challenges. He stated that the Convention must remain the guardrail between innovation and misuse in the life sciences, particularly in the current international security environment.
