New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- Driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's decision for the abrogation of Article 370, that took away the special status from Jammu and Kashmir, several members of the Gorkha community and Congress workers, on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, at a function in Jammu city.

The members joined in the saffron party at a programme at the party headquarter in Trikuta Nagar, in the presence of its State General Secretary (organisation) Ashok Kaul and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta.

Among the prominent faces who joined in the ruling party, include Karuna Shetri (President J&K Gorkha Samaaj along with his team) and Shailender Jamwal (Congress Sewa Dal along with his team).
