New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- Under development by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the nuclear-capable K-4 ballistic missile, on Sunday, January 19, underwent a successful test-firing. With the successful launch of the missile, India's nuclear triad, the capability to launch nuclear weapons from air, surface and underwater, is now complete.

The government sources said the test-firing was carried out from an underwater platform in the sea during the daytime off the coast of Andhra Pradesh. With 3,500 km strike range, the missile will be equipped on indigenous INS Arihant-class nuclear-powered submarines of the Indian Navy.
