New Delhi, May 16 -- Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with Afghanistan's Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, on Wednesday evening. During the discussion, Jaishankar expressed deep appreciation for Muttaqi's strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
He also welcomed the Afghan government's firm rejection of recent "false and baseless" reports aimed at sowing distrust between India and Afghanistan. Reaffirming the historical friendship between the two nations, Jaishankar reiterated India's continued commitment to support the developmental needs of the Afghan people.
Both sides also explored ways to advance bilateral cooperation in the coming months.
