New Delhi, Oct. 31 -- The Delhi Police has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing bail for Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider, Gulfisha Fatima, and Shifa Ur Rehman in the Delhi riots larger conspiracy case.

The police said the accused were trying to play the "victim card" by citing long imprisonment, even though they themselves had delayed the trial. The affidavit stated that no bail can be granted on the grounds of delay, as the postponement of proceedings was caused by the petitioners' own "mala fide and mischievous" actions.
